Opening 'Light of Heart Field Hospital' to Receive Patients on August 9

August 9, 2021 - Mr. Wisit Malaisirirat, CEO of Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC) and representative of the founding group of the 'Light of Heart Field Hospital' stated that since the outbreak of COVID-19 in its third wave, there has been widespread impact, with tens of thousands of infections reported daily. The private sector has come together to establish a 450-bed field hospital to accommodate green and yellow-level patients, named 'Light of Heart Field Hospital'. This initiative stems from the belief that we all need to contribute a little light to spark hope for Thailand to overcome this crisis. Thus, we named this hospital 'Light of Heart' to reflect the intentions of the seven founding organizations that aim to foster a positive culture among all Thai people to collaboratively solve problems, symbolizing the light that comes from the hearts of givers and the hope in the hearts of those who are suffering.

Additionally, one month ago, we launched the 'Sharing Happiness Center' project to support restaurants affected by the inability to operate normally, as well as communities lacking food. With the establishment of the field hospital, the Sharing Happiness Center has been integrated into the field hospital project, which will continue to provide assistance according to its mission and increase food distribution to patients for every meal over the next four months.

The founding organizations include Principal Healthcare Group, MQDC, EEC Engineering Network, T&B Media Global, and the Thanin Tevee Chiaravanont Foundation, Aryawararama Foundation, and Phuttharaksa Foundation, which have expanded to over 30 partners and supporters, such as the SCG Foundation, which has provided 600 paper beds and other construction equipment.

CP and MK have supported food for patients and medical personnel for four months, while TRUE has provided Wi-Fi for patients to use during their treatment, along with many other organizations, serving as a light that helps illuminate from the heart.


Dr. Athiwat Noiprasit, Chief Performance Coach, Risk and Quality Officer at Principal Healthcare Company and Director of Prince Suvarnabhumi Hospital, as the Director of Light of Heart Field Hospital, stated that although the COVID-19 situation in Thailand continues to see an increase in patients, the medical team feels encouraged in their management because they receive support from friends in the business sector who help find locations for the hospital to have the opportunity to treat more patients. I understand that amidst feelings of despair and seeing no way out of this pandemic, the opening of the Light of Heart Field Hospital is another avenue for treatment and a point of communication for patients and their families to feel hopeful, as living with hope and encouragement is crucial for the recovery of patients and the mental well-being of their families, who are all waiting for the hope that their loved ones have a chance to recover while being treated at this field hospital.

 

The medical services at the Light of Heart Field Hospital will be provided by specialized medical teams and nurses from the Phitsanulok Hospital Group, including Phitsanulok Hospital, Phichit Hospital, and Uttaradit Hospital, which are part of Principal Healthcare. In the field hospital, we utilize over 50 medical personnel for care, with an emergency room and a high-flow oxygen pipeline with up to 76 beds to accommodate patients who are likely to be yellow-red and ready to care for critical patients in the field hospital. There are also critical care beds at Prince Suvarnabhumi Hospital, just 5 kilometers away, with a travel time of less than 10 minutes.

 

Please note that 'Light of Heart Field Hospital' is ready to accept patients who register through the website or call center only.

The hospital has established a workflow to facilitate and expedite communication with patients. The registration process will open on August 7. Once registered, patient information will be sent to the Assessment Center for symptom evaluation. If eligible for Home Isolation, the hospital will take them under its care according to the Home Isolation process. If they qualify for admission to the field hospital, a team will coordinate the transfer of the patient for check-in at the field hospital or send them to a hospitel. However, if the symptoms are severe, consideration will be given to admitting them for treatment at the hospital or transferring them to a network hospital.

 

The admission criteria will be prioritized based on the order of registration, and results of tests must be attached. Once opened, the hospital expects to accommodate patients fully within the first 4-5 days, after which there will be a rotation based on the number of patients discharged. Additionally, this field hospital has introduced a delivery robot to assist in services and uses the Kaitomm Care application to enhance patient care efficiency and increase the safety of medical personnel.

 

On August 8, 2021, General Natthapol Nakpanit, Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC) and Director of the COVID-19 Situation Management Center (CCSA), visited the Light of Heart Field Hospital and observed a demonstration of telemedicine treatment using the 'Kaitomm Hospital' tablet and the 'delivery robot' for communication with patients. He was accompanied by Dr. Thares Krasae-nai-raviwong, Director-General of the Department of Health Service Support, Mr. Wanchai Kongkasem, Governor of Samut Prakan Province, Dr. Non Jindawech, Deputy Provincial Public Health Officer of Samut Prakan, and Mr. Natthapong Thangsuwan, Mayor of Bangkaew Municipality, as the first delegation to thank the private sector and provide encouragement to medical personnel in their efforts to alleviate the burden on the government. The management team of the Light of Heart Hospital, led by Dr. Satit Wiyakhorn, Managing Director of Principal Healthcare Company, and Mr. Wisit Malaisirirat, CEO of Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC), along with Dr. Athiwat Noiprasit, the hospital director, guided the visit at the location of the Light of Heart Field Hospital on Wat Klong Palad Prian Road, Bangna-Trad Km. 5.

 

On the same day, Dr. Satit Pitutecha, Deputy Minister of Public Health, also visited the Light of Heart Field Hospital, accompanied by Dr. Pornnarong Srimuang, Provincial Public Health Officer of Samut Prakan, and Mr. Natthapong Thangsuwan, Mayor of Bangkaew Municipality, to observe and see a demonstration of telemedicine treatment using the 'Kaitomm Hospital' tablet and the 'delivery robot' for communication with patients as the second delegation to thank the private sector and provide encouragement to medical personnel in their efforts to alleviate the burden on the government. The Light of Heart Field Hospital is scheduled to open for registered patients who have been screened to begin treatment on Monday, August 9, 2021.

Services Provided at the Field Hospital

1. Medical services equivalent to those in a hospital

- Nurses will be available 24 hours a day using the telemedicine tablet 'Kaitomm Hospital' developed by Obodroid Corporation for communication with patients.

- Air conditioning technology is used with all fresh air, with no recirculation of air.

- A 'delivery robot' developed by Obodroid Corporation will deliver food, drinks, and medicine to assist medical staff and reduce their risk.

- Essential supplies will be provided to all patients to facilitate their check-in and throughout their stay at the field hospital.

2. Sharing Happiness Center provides three meals for patients.

- Three meals will be provided for patients, medical staff, and related personnel, with MK and CP as the main food partners.

- Additionally, snacks will be provided for patients throughout the day.

3. Security measures

- CCTV and security systems will monitor safety within the field hospital in case of emergencies.

- Additionally, support for security will be provided by local government agencies.

4. Other services

- Internet and Wi-Fi supported by True will be available for free for patients to help reduce their stress.

- Recreational areas will have televisions with content support from True Vision, including special codes for patients to download applications and watch on their own mobile devices.
